Arise, Crusader (Mirrored Refrain)

Crusaders of a distant past, bear thy cross,
Across strange lands carry the church's will,
With deeds of honor, loyalty and faith you stand,
Let holy justice prevail through custom steed and steel.

Answer the call o rare men of ancestory,
Go forth and gather armies of wealth and blood,
Let holy justice prevail through custom steed and steel,
With deeds of honor, loyalty and faith you stand.

Farewell to gentle rolling lands, lush and green,
Travel bravely onward in dusty lands to spread God's will,
With deeds of honor, loyalty and faith you stand,
Let holy justice prevail through custom steed and steel.

Brought forth to reclaim holy place of old,
Sacred shrines cleansed by a heavenly flood,
Let holy justice prevail through custom steed and steel,
With deeds of honor, loyalty and faith you stand.

I wrote this poem in a form called a Mirrored Refrain. Originally it was a prompt on Poefusion some time back. I hope you enjoy it.

Although this deals with history it has contemporary relevance. I hope that you enjoyed writing a mirrored refrain as much as I did.

Very nice! This poem would be great as part of a historical novel, or a fantasy like LOTR.
